The ‘Caps Girls Elite BC Super REX team took on a number of familiar faces on Friday, facing the newly founded TSS Rovers FC Women’s WPSL squad at Surrey’s Newton Athletic Park. The TSS roster features eight graduating ‘Caps players and striker Jordyn Huitema, though the latter remained with the ‘Caps for this match.

In the end, the ‘Caps earned a 3-2 win versus their older counterpart with goals from Huitema, Teni Akindoju, and Andersen Williams.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Monday that nine players from the BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) have been selected to join the Girls Elite Regional EXCEL (REX) program in partnership with BC Soccer.

“We’re thrilled to welcome a terrific group of young BC players into the program,” said Emma Humphries, Whitecaps FC BC REX head coach and girls academy director. “Through our partnership with BC Soccer, we look forward to continuing to push players on to Canada Soccer’s youth and senior national teams.”

At the beginning of May, I was invited to goalkeep for the Whitecaps FC REX team when they traveled to Quebec to take part in a series of matches there against the Quebec REX program, and the Ontario Provincial teams.  We played six challenging 45-minute games over three days, but it was a great experience playing against some of the best players in Canada in our age group outside of the Whitecaps FC REX team. We ended up winning one and tying the other five games. Here’s some more information about the trip on the Whitecaps FC website!

I was very excited to get an invitation to the Canada Soccer U-17 National EXCEL camp along with 28 others as the first step in preparation for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Uruguay 2018! It is a nine-day camp, and I’m looking forward to getting to know my teammates better and learning from my coaches and teammates.

My team had a great time at the Whitecaps FC Showcase tournament on the weekend. The highlight for me was saving a penalty shot in our last game!  You can see in the video my dad took below.
